Caissons

« Caissons » was born from a correspondence with architecte and writer Enric Llorach.

Insubordination

Based on a visual proposal from an image generator (Dall.e – prompt: Lake Leman and mountains), the photographic act here consists of going to the site, looking for the closest angle of view in comparison with the image produced by ‘Machine Learning’ and producing a photograph designed to rectify certain details based on the physical experience of the site.

For the ‘Insubordination’ series, the photographic collage provides a partial correction to the profile of the mountain ridges on the shores of the Franco-Swiss lake. The process, like its title, plays on a certain absurdity in the confrontation of the two scenes to highlight a new dimension between the image and its referent. In a context that is redrawing the contours of visual creation in a policy of generalised remixing, photography is once again in the grip of questioning its own modalities of representation, even if they are, by their very nature, potentially shifting.

Désindividu

“Désindividu” is a constantly evolving series based on a project with multiple forms (photography, film, installation).
The project is based on the Internet, using the medium as a data mine. The images are composed of identity portraits taken exclusively from public platforms or social networks. They are then superimposed on one another to eliminate any possibility of recognising the subject. The aim is to denounce the insufficiently controlled use of personal information.

The result is a poetic series in which the relationship to identity disappears in an overabundance of fragmented faces.

Martial Mingam

Particularly interested in the role of art and creation in our daily environment, Martial Mingam defends a exploded vision of fields of expression and focuses much of his work in exploring societal and political themes.

He lives between Paris and Fribourg (Switzerland). Graduated from the Ecole des Gobelins (photography) and the University of Paris VIII (theory of arts), he is also in charge of the R&D section of the 4th year students at eikon (the school of applied arts of the Fribourg canton). In 2019, he co-founded « Utopia3 », a non-profit association for human rights program editing.
