Anna Konstantinova is a Zurich-based curator specializing in contemporary photography, post-photography, and curating in digital spaces. She is the Curator and Gallery Manager at Lullin + Ferrari Gallery and is responsible for art and architecture projects at the Canton of Zurich. Anna is also part of the team at Screen Walks, a collaborative project by Fotomuseum Winterthur and The Photographers’ Gallery that investigates the evolving role of photographic images in networked and digital spaces. Additionally, she is a member of the pool collective, a self-organized group of artists and creatives in Zurich working in photography, and serves on the committee of near.association, which promotes contemporary Swiss photography and fosters critical discourse in the field.

Ascanio Cecco is a curator and art historian specializing in photography, contemporary art, and exhibition design. He is currently visual arts specialist, focusing on photography, at the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. As a curator, he has been involved in numerous exhibition projects both in Switzerland and internationally, notably with the art space Urgent Paradise. He also held the position of graduate assistant at the University of Lausanne and contributed to various editorial projects, including the photography journal Transbordeur.

Founded in 1971, Fotostiftung Schweiz is a private non-profit foundation, devoted to preserving, researching and conveying photographic works. It primarily collects photographic works related to Switzerland (Helvetica), from the beginnings of photography to the present day. In so doing, it incorporates artistic forms of expression, as well as documentary, applied and private forms of photography.

Verzasca Foto Festival promotes emerging international photographers and champions visual arts in rural and peripheral areas, forging connections and dialogues with the landscape and providing access to various forms of expression and visual storytelling.
During festival days, we offer a series of exhibitions outdoors and indoors, artist’s presentations, guided visits, meetings with artists, portfolio reviews, project screenings, and live music.

Miriam Edmunds is an independent curator, photography historian and historian based in Basel and Thurgau. She holds an MA in the theory and history of photography and history from the University of Zurich. She has curated various exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany and Serbia and has worked in the field of cultural promotion. She also ran the art space so-da in Zurich as part of a collective from 2021 – 2023. She is a member of the board of near. swiss association for contemporary photography.

Marie DuPasquier is a Swiss independent curator and museologist living in Zurich. She is director of Display, a platform for artistic and curatorial practices www.display-berlin.com and co-director of Documents d’artistes Genève www.dda-geneve.ch. She also worked for several years in institutions such as Maison d’Ailleurs CH and the Festival de photographie de Bienne CH.

Biennale dell’Immagine is an international photography, video and contemporary visual arts exhibition festival, established in 1996. Organized every two years, it has proved to be a dynamic event, which has been able to create interesting synergies and has distinguished itself for its research for peculiar and unprecedented exhibition spaces.

Photobooks Switzerland is the largest photography book festival in Switzerland, offering a unique celebration of photography in all its forms. This festival brings together photography enthusiasts, image professionals, publishers, and artists in a dynamic space for exchange and discovery.

Photobooks Switzerland stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, showcasing the diversity and richness of the photographic book. In Switzerland, there are very few specialized bookstores, yet Swiss photographers have consistently distinguished themselves with award-winning publications on the international stage. This inspired the creation of a unifying event that fills this gap.

Each year, visitors can explore a vibrant fair featuring around 40 publishers, bookstores, schools, independent photographers and collectives. The festival is also accompanied by a rich program of exhibitions, discussions, roundtables, workshops, and portfolio reviews.

Davide Nerini is an art historian and freelance project coordinator focusing on photography, digital cultures, and print design. He is currently curator of photography at the Prints and Photographs Division of the Public and University Library of Fribourg, managing editor at Transbordeur Journal, and research associate at the Centre for Cultural History of the University of Lausanne.

Maude Oswald is a teacher (Photography Department, Centre d’enseignement professionnel de Vevey – CEPV) and a PhD candidate in history of photography at Université de Lausanne. Her PhD thesis, under the direction of Olivier Lugon, is about post-Katrina photography in New Orleans.

Amelie Schüle, from South Germany near Switzerland and France, is a curator, programmer and cultural producer focused on contemporary photography. She values how art connects people and ideas. Since October 2023, she’s the Director at Photoforum Pasquart in Biel. Before that, she worked at Foam Fotografiemuseum in Amsterdam from 2020 to 2023, leading Foam Talent, public programs and creative projects. From 2018 to 2020, she curated for Unseen Amsterdam, organizing the festivals exhibitions and public programs. She has experience with Swiss galleries like Christophe Guye Galerie, Eva Presenhuber and Hauser & Wirth. Amelie earned her master’s in Curatorial Studies from Zurich School of the Arts in 2017. She’s also involved in portfolio reviews, mentoring artists and teaching, showing her deep commitment to photography.

Nestled within the Pasquart cultural center in Biel/Bienne, Photoforum Pasquart is a dynamic institution dedicated to photography. It supports emerging Swiss and international photographers through a vibrant program of exhibitions and educational initiatives. Spectrum – Photography in Switzerland was established in 2017 as a successor to ASIP (ASIP – Association Suisse des institutions pour la photographie was founded in 1996 as an association of Swiss photographic institutions). Spectrum – Photography in Switzerland welcomes collective and individual members who are active in the field of collection, mediation, processing and discussion of photography in Switzerland. The association promotes communication, networking among the various individual and institutional actors, museums, galleries, collections, archives, libraries, schools, and supports contact with politics and cultural policy. Spectrum is committed to the importance of photography in Swiss culture.

sichtbar.art is a curated online magazine for photography and related genres and is aimed at a discerning, international readership with an interest in photography and art. A newsletter is published regularly with current notes on exhibitions, artist talks, art fairs, festivals and other topics from the field of art and culture. sichtbar.art helps to increase visibility.

Marco De Mutiis is Digital Curator at Fotomuseum Winterthur, lecturer at Master Photography ECAL and BA Camera Arts HSLU, and researcher by the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image at South Bank University. He is interested in digital images, computational photography and online visual culture, with a particular focus on practices of in-game photography.

Every two years, the Swiss Visual Arts Biennial Images Vevey offers site-specific photography exhibitions, in the streets and park, indoor and unusual venues in the town of Vevey. Entirely free of charge, the Biennale Images Vevey is a quality platform for Swiss and international artists, giving the public a three-week opportunity to discover the very best in contemporary photography.

As an internationally renowned art gallery, Galerie 94 focuses on contemporary as well as classical photography, and is dedicated to exhibiting both Swiss, and international artists. Galerie 94 is located in the Merker-Areal in the center of Baden. Sascha Laue, Galerie 94’s founder, successfully curated and managed his former gallery – Photogalerie – from 1994 until 2004.  Galerie 94 will have presented 50 exhibitions by the end of 2024.
Galerie 94 continues to be the only exhibition space that focuses on photography in the canton of Aargau.

Urs Stahel is a curator, freelance writer, lecturer and consultant. Artistic Director/Curator of MAST – Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione e Tecnologia – in Bologna, consultant of the MAST collection of industrial photography, consultant to Foto Colectania, Barcelona, and to the Collection of Art Vontobel, Zürich. He is the co-founder of Fotomuseum Winterthur and was its director and curator from 1993 to 2013. He lives and works in Zurich.

Elisa Rusca is director of the exhibitions and collections department at the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Geneva, where she has curated major exhibition projects such as Equilibres précaires (2022), Petrit Halilaj – Unfinished Stories (2023), Human.Kind., (co-curated with William Ewing and whose catalogue was published by Thames & Hudson, 2024), and Tuning In – Acoustics of Emotion: Manal AlDowayan, Betty Danon, Marco Donnarumma, Gregor Hildebrandt, William Kentridge, Christine Sun Kim, Piero Mottola, Julia Scher, Dana Whabira (2024). A cultural producer, author and art historian specialising in the contemporary period, since 2010 she has been involved in over thirty exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad. Her research has been presented at the CNRS Paris, KunstWerke Berlin, and University for Education Taipei, Taiwan. In 2017, she co-created the platform daydreamers.biz with Stephen Kent. She received the special mention of the AICA France Prize for Art Criticism in 2021, and awarded the OT 2023 in Central America from Pro Helvetia and the Mondriaan Fund.

Julie Dayer is a photography historian based in Lausanne. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History and Film Studies from the University of Lausanne and currently works in the Exhibitions Department at Photo Elysée where she previously served as Digital Media Manager. From 2019 to 2024 she was an active member of the committee of near. swiss association for contemporary photography where she contributed to managing the association organizing events and curating exhibitions. Since 2022 she has also been involved in organizing and promoting exhibitions and cultural projects in French-speaking Switzerland on a freelance basis.

Christophe Guye has been working as a gallery owner and art dealer for contemporary photography since 2006, the same year he opened his first gallery SCALO|GUYE in Los Angeles in close collaboration with the late publisher, curator and gallery owner Walter Keller. He has been based in Zurich with his present gallery CHRISTOPHE GUYE GALERIE since 2010, which represents numerous nationally and internationally renowned artists who consider the medium of photography within the larger context of current art practices. The gallery has become one of the leading galleries for contemporary fine art photography. During this time, he had organised over a hundred exhibitions in galleries, cultural institutions and at art fairs in Switzerland and abroad. Furthermore, he advises many private art collectors as well as institutional collections on the development and expansion of their collections. Since 2021 he is a lecturer in the Visiting Gallerist Programme of the Teaching and Research Centre for Theory and History of Photography at the University of Zurich. Since 2024 he has been on the advisory board of T3 Photo Festival/Photo Fair, Tokyo. Prior to this activity, he was the owner and managing director of a communications agency in Zurich for 15 years, which was bought by an international agency network in 2004.

Artphilein Editions is a publishing house established in 2013 with a specific focus on creating photography-based books. These projects are supported by the Artphilein Foundation.
The photobooks published by Artphilein Editions explore themes related to the convergence of humanity and the environment, while also critically examining ongoing societal and territorial shifts. The publications delve also into subjects such as personal narratives, providing intimate perspectives on contemporary issues.

Artphilein is a cultural hub for contemporary photography, art and independent publishing.
Founded in Lugano in 2013, it includes a photo-book public library with more than 4.000 volumes, three exhibition spaces: Focus, Box and La Piscina; the publishing house Artphilein Editions and a specialised bookstore.

Nathalie Herschdorfer is a curator and art historian specializing in the history of photography. She is the Director of the museum Photo Elysée, the photography museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. Before that, as Director of the Museum of Fine Arts Le Locle, she organized important shows featuring the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Stanley Kubrick, Vik Muniz, Alex Prager, Viviane Sassen, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Andy Warhol, amongst others. She is an active voice in contemporary photography and has been invited to organize numerous exhibitions outside Switzerland. She teaches the history of photography at the Lausanne University of Art and Design (ECAL) and is the author of several books, including: Man Ray: Liberating Photography (1924); Deborah Turbeville Photocollage (2023); 160 Years of Photography from the Collections of the Red Cross (2022); Body: The Photography Book (2019); Mountains by Magnum Photographers (2019); The Thames& Hudson Dictionary of Photography (2018); Coming into Fashion: A Century of Photography at Condé Nast (2012); and Afterwards: Contemporary Photography Confronting the Past (2011).

Rudolf Steiner is a self-taught contemporary Artist and Photographer who lives and works in Biel, Rondchâtel and Warsaw. He has received many Awards, Grants, Prizes and Residencies and his work was shown internationally. Steiner has run the Artist Label ‘Haus am Gern’ and the publishing house ‘Edition Haus am Gern’ in collaboration with Barbara Meyer Cesta since 1998. He is also an administrator at the artist run space & residency ‘Konsulat Prättigau’ in Warsaw, Member of the Executive Board of Photoforum Pasquart Biel, as well as being a teacher for photography and video at the School of Design Bern and at the School for Photography CEPV, Vevey.

Sascha Renner is a curator, marketing expert, and author based in Zurich. He was Deputy Director of the Fotostiftung Schweiz and holds a Master in Art History and Ethnology. He has worked as an art editor for Tages-Anzeiger and Swiss Public Radio SRF 2 Kultur and as director of the Coalmine Forum for Documentary Photography. His work, focused on storytelling, curating photography, and visual cultures, has been recognized with the City of Zurich’s Art Education Award.

Lydia Dorner is Research Associate at Photo Elysée, Lausanne. Having graduated with degrees in Art History and French Literature, she works mainly on contemporary photography projects and is in charge of the Prix Elysée. Her fields of research include the relationship between text and image, family photography and the re-appropriation of art historical icons.

Founded in 1984, the Centre de la photographie Genève (CPG) is one of Switzerland’s leading institutions dedicated to photography. Its activities include an exhibition programme devoted mainly to contemporary photography, an art education programme, and a range of activities for professional artists and photographers.

Danaé Panchaud is an exhibition curator, museologist and lecturer specialising in photography. She currently serves as director of Centre de la photographie Genève, and was from 2018 to 2021 the director and curator of Photoforum Pasquart. As a free-lance curator, she has curated exhibitions for Swiss and international museums, independent spaces and galleries since 2012. She regularly contributes texts for monographs of contemporary artists and thematic publications, and lectures at art schools and universities across Switzerland.

Daniel Blochwitz (*1973) is an independent curator, author, lecturer and advisor, specializing in photography. Previously, he has worked for contemporary art and photography galleries in New York and Zurich for more than a decade. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Photography (and a minor in German Literature and Film) from the University of Florida in 2003. Afterwards, he attended the postgraduate Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum in New York. He lives and works in Zurich.

Julie Bonzon is a Swiss photography curator with a PhD in History of Art, specializing in South African photography. With extensive experience in curatorial projects, artistic direction, education and writing, she has collaborated with renowned cultural institutions worldwide, notably in London, Johannesburg, Sharjah, and Lausanne. She is the Founder of The Photographic Collective, a platform dedicated to championing and connecting lens-based artists working in Africa.

Taking advantage of ECAL’s numerous collaborations with industrial or cultural stakeholders, Bachelor and Master Photography programs allow students to regularly rub shoulders with influential figures in fine art photography and commissioned work. Structured around practical and theoretical lessons and workshop weeks, the courses foster privileged encounters. Finally, workshops, labs, studios and the availability of a state-of-the-art print shop ensure that the projects initiated are given concrete form.

photo basel is Switzerland’s first and only art fair dedicated to photography.

Biannual festival dedicated to photography, held in May/June in the historic town of Lenzburg, just 20 minutes from Zurich. The festival features a range of curated group and solo exhibitions, by both national and international artists, along with workshops, portfolio reviews, and various events.

Corinne Currat has been an associate curator at the Fondation de l’Hermitage, in Lausanne, since 2013. Curator and coordinator of international projects, she regularly contributes to publications on painting and photography of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. In the field of photography, she has worked for the Musée de l’Élysée, FEP – Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, and NEAR.

Curator, author and art educator. Works as director and curator for Fotostiftung Schweiz (Swiss foundation for Photography). Having completed degrees in Social Anthropology (LSE) and Curatorial Studies (ZHdK), he previously served as curator at Photo Elysée; as head of department at Fachklasse Fotografie, F+F Schule für Kunst und Design, Zurich; as well as independent curator. Before that he worked as photo director/editor for print media such as DU in Zurich and GEO in Hamburg and New York.

Diana Poole is an art advisor specialized in modern and contemporary photography. She supports private and corporate clients build and grow art collections, working with a global network of galleries, auction specialists and curators. She also collaborates on exhibition and curatorial projects. Diana is Co-Founder of Der Greif Studio; a member of both the APAA (Association of Professional Art Advisors) and Spectrum (Association for Photography in Switzerland).
