Influx and Inflow
Joanna Wierzbicka (b. 1995, Poland) is a visual artist working interdisciplinary across different mediums – photography, sculpture, video, and installation. Her artistic research focuses on the body within the feminist posthumanities mode of thought, the experience of embodiment and the materiality of our bodies – their fluidity, porousness, and trans-corporeality. Through the iterative process of sculpting, photographing (often with the use of different apparatuses including microscopes and medical scans), printing and then sculpting again, she brings attention to matter as an active agent and searches for the physicality of forms that together can create a fully immersive environment – awakening bodily experiences, evoking haptics, and engaging the sense of touch. She has completed a master’s degree in Photography at ECAL, The ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne and a bachelor’s from University of the Arts London.
