Off the Mark
For four years, I developed the habit of revisiting the same natural areas multiple times, no matter where I found myself. This routine helped me get used to these places, and I gradually started to notice details that stood out from the background. Once photographed, however, these familiar spaces became strange and mysterious.
Off the Mark investigates this strange blend of familiarity and uneasiness that emerges while exploring the natural space. According to the Oxford Dictionary, Off the Mark means missing the target or failing to meet expectations.
The series does not follow the language of traditional landscape photography but suggests an inner exploration. Images are populated by unusual shapes, ironic combinations, and enigmatic compositions. Rather than aim to describe, they seek the mystery and the irony of composition to reveal the strange within the ordinary.
