you can't go home again, 2014 - 2024

My photography practice is intuitive, autobiographical and therapeutic, exploring the notions of home, belonging, identity and the “other”. I perceive photography as a meditative, analytical and humorous tool to externalize internal processes, conscious and unconscious. The photography frame becomes an emancipation act per se, I choose what I see and how I perceive it. Life is very often overwhelming. Curating and documenting what visual information I wish to take with me offers me the possibility to go back, again and again. Driven by the desire to free my consciousness from societal boundaries, while looking into the foundations of our togetherness, through my artistic practice I create for me the possibility to introspect and finally interpret my experience of life.

The last ten years, I have been wandering around the world and lost some sense of belonging. By creating a vast and omnivorous photo archive, I am creating a world in which I belong, my world. Places where I grew up, spent many years of my life or places where I feel familiar are inevitably accompanied by a sense of displacement. Nature and intimacy are offering my tormented mind a renewed sense of connection and home.
